Samantha--

Sorry to cause a scare, but it's all resolved now. I was able to grade
your
paper, and you finished the course with an A.

Here's the story: When I picked up the exams on the 24th (yes, two days
later than anticipated), yours was not among them. This struck me as
highly
unusual, considering your usual punctuality, and I e-mailed Sarah to
check
on you. (Had your neck injury grown worse, I wondered?) When I next
returned to Flagler, on the 26th, your exam was still not in my box--I
really was concerned at that point. But I held off writing your grade
on
the grade sheet. When I went to submit final grades on May 1, your exam
had
materialized in my box. I had already calculated what grades you needed
on
the final to earn an A, B, etc. Needless to say, you earned a grade
sufficient for an A. I also got your kind note on the final, and when I
get
a chance this week I'll mail it back to you.

Sorry to have caused you alarm. Evidently Jesse's right--something
happened
in the mail room. But all's well that ends well!
