No she does not even see me
Oct. 3rd, 2003 12:47 amI am so sleepy and maybe more than a little wobbly, but I just had to say a quick yay for drag shows. I met a fabulous queen named Sylvia who gave me a little plastic baggie with some pearls, lube, and a free ticket to her show Saturday night. (Megan asked what the pearls were for and Sylvia turned to Travis, our other queen, and said 'she's precious. just keep her.' She then told Megan it wasn't lube, it was lip gloss. Megan later cornered me and asked me what the pearls were for and I said 'woman, think about it. they were given to you by a gay queen and they came with some lube....')
I think the most entertaining thing I said all night was something along the lines of 'I keep trying not to sit on my lube.' which was in my back pocket. The most entertaining thing I heard all night doesn't bear repeating here, since it was coarse drag queen humor. But -I- thought it was funny.
A large part of the best thing about drag shows is that they're pretty packed with gay men, so there's not much to fight off.
The first band was a girl psuedo punk rock band, about which the best thing I have to say is that I was sitting on a speaker and my jeans were tight, so there was a bit of a thrill there.
The second band was better, but they weren't sure if they wanted to be Art Alexakis or just mod. Also, the lead singer looked like my friend Jonas.
It was an altogether enjoyable evening. Maybe not so much as last night, but I can't have that much fun -all- the time.
Or can I?
I smell like Re-bar. Must shower.
