The guy from Where Seattle magazine stopped in this morning to pick up the ad copy I did for the store. He reads through it, pauses, and looks up at me.
"Who wrote this?"
"I did."
It's then that he gives me the Look. I know this look, it says 'you can't be more than 12, maybe 16 years old. How did -you- do -this-.' I get this a lot. "It's so -good-."
"Thanks." This is the part where I have to explain myself. "I'm in publishing. I've been working on being an editor for the last seven years or so."
"I wondered. I just usually get such awful stuff, and I work with clients like Pottery Barn. It's refreshing to see someone who knows what they're doing."
"Well, thanks John. Just keep that in mind when any, you know, -jobs- come up."
And so I say, with my tounge only partly in my cheek, that you should all run, don't walk, to pick up Where Seattle in May. This will be the first thing I've published since my small, brief "feature" with poetsagainstthewar.com last August. And I know you've all got collections of my clippings.
