Seattle is my town now, but I find myself more amused by its transit problems than concerned. I missed the beginning of most of it: the earthquake, the monorail, the light rail. (Plus, I'm from Tampa. People aren't supposed to be stuck in traffic for an hour every day? Overpasses aren't supposed to fall down, taxes aren't supposed to be raised for projects that don't go through, and things aren't -supposed- to be a mess? We saw more accidents in 2 days in Florida than I've seen in Seattle in the last year.)

My favorite is the Alaskan Way Viaduct. When people come to visit me I take them to it and say, "This is the Alaskan Way Viaduct. It got damaged in an earthquake a few years ago and is going to fall down. Know what they're going to do about it? No? Neither does anyone else." It's up there on my tour list with the troll and Lenin. I usually follow that up with my story about being in Mateo's convertible on it, mostly because that convertible is one of the sexiest things I've seen.
But that's not the point. The point is that someday soon it's going to fall down and kill a lot of people, and they still probably won't know what to do. I love me some Seattle, but not if it drops a road on my head.

I also don't care about the monorail, but that's a different story.

Maybe I should have a chinchilla?

I got a terse little lab report from the hospital today that called me "negative," which we'll take to mean that I won't be dying any time soon from something that I know about.
