Be my hangover girl
Jul. 20th, 2003 12:10 amThe show tonight was one of the coolest things I've seen in a long, long time.
Wait, wait, I'll start at the beginning. Kimberly took me out to breafast this morning as a sort of 'let's meet each other before I introduce you to all of my friends' type thing and lucky for me she isn't at all like her father. I wonder how he feels about her tounge piercing and tattoo. Anyway, so we got along just fine and she gave me directions to Lo-Fi, which turned out to be right next to the Lobo Saloon, which is about a half mile down the street from me. Score.
So the show is a show/party for a friend of Kim's. Apparently Joanna, the girl that owns the store, makes trips to India and Thailand and brings back clothes, and this was to celebrate the one year anniversary of her opening. Lo-Fi is a very cool space, owned and operated by a bunch of guys from, entertainingly, Florida. There's the front room that's a bar, and then the back room which is where the shows and things take place. The walls are all deep jewel colors and out one window is a view of the Space Needle. The room is fairly small and was packed full of beautiful people and slightly overheated. I felt like I'd been deserted on a planet of supermodels. I guess that Joanna is a dancer and so all of her friends are dancers, too. The show was amazing. Just incredible. The music was perfect, and it was half fashion show and half performance art. Very edgy clothes, and the dancers were doing their thing. It was all very sexy and hot and sweaty and just cool. If Kim does things like this often then I'm really glad we're pseudo related.
I had fun. I desperately needed fun. And (bonus!) I got to watch a bunch of really attractive people.
However, walking might have been a dumb idea. I wore my black patent leather high heel maryjanes, and there is serious blisterage on my footsies. I'm just glad I went with this outfit and not the tiger skirt...walking a mile in the stiletto-esque tiearound sandals that go with that one sounds like a really dumb idea.
