In the mirror my shirt says naimehob. This has fascinated me all day long.

My family went out to eat the other night, and at the table there wasn't enough silverware. Someone proposed to take my brother Ryan's silverware and get him more from the waiter, at which point my brother unwrapped it, licked each piece individually, and then offered it up.
I wonder, sometimes. Nature or nurture, you know. He's really so much like me sometimes, and he's still only 11.

The summer between my junior and senior years of high school, Bethany, Candice, Ramona, and I all made a bet. Each one of us bet the other three that we wouldn't sleep with anyone all summer. The point of this bet, obviously, was to lose it. It became like a secret language: "So, did you lose the bet last night?" "Do you think you might lose the bet with him?" "Man, would I like to lose the bet with that guy!" The plan was that once we all lost the bet we would reset it.
I don't know why any of us thought that we -wouldn't- lose the bet. We were sixteen, seventeen, or eighteen and it was summer time in Florida. But I wonder these days if any of them still think in terms of the bet, since for a few years it was our own little equivalent to putting another notch on the bedpost or whatever.
The point of this story is that the bet came up in a dream I had last night, and I hadn't thought about it in at least three years. And I thought that maybe this bet gives the wrong impression about what kind of girls we were...but then, really, it doesnt.
