Today was zoo day! I'm so sleepy, but I had to talk about the zoo. There were monkeys there! Monkeys! Hay-den, you have to buy me an orange monkey. I need one desperately, and you're the only one it would be meaningful from. And it's funny, because every time I told someone I was going to the zoo today, they said 'oh, well, tell the monkeys I said hi' and it's so funny that everyone knows me this well.

For the edification of the studio audience, Alvin is extremely cute. I mean, really.

My car is dead. Again. I think (hope) it's just the battery, but it's still just another hassle.

Tomorrow I get to buy books. This means that I'll finally have a copy of The Book of Laughter and Forgetting in my hot little hands. And one of Chronicle of a Death Foretold. I'd like to say I'll have one of Beauty and Sadness, but Barnes and Noble is sadly lacking in its Japanese fiction.

Eddie Izzard will be here on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and I will not get to see him. I'd sell a kidney to get into that show. Maybe even my own.

Wednesday night is psuedo-officially going to be karaoke at Goldies on, um, 45th I think. All are invited to attend.

I am possibly the most thrilled lass in the entire universe right this moment. Yumm...books. Walking around in a bookstore is like going through my high school yearbook, you know? Such fond memories. I like books so much more than people. And the ones I brought home today are all by old friends...Tolstoy, Kundera, Fitzgerald, Dreiser, Marquez. I'm sure there's something to be said for post-modern fiction too, but I'm sentimental. And when I finish these, I'll be able to buy more.

This reminds me, though...can anyone direct me towards a copy of A Moveable Feast without an ugly cover? I don't so much like the newer editions of Hemingway. I'm pretty sad that the only Marquez books that come in those pretty red hardcovers are Hundred Years and Cholera, 'cause I think he belongs between elegant covers.

When this world turns into Fahrenheit 451, I'll be one of the first to die.

And then! I found a pair of Steve Maddens for $50! Now, I'll be the first to admit that I'm confused by designer lables, but I have to admit that these are much better constructed than the rest of my shoes. And also some Unlableds (a kenneth cole company) for $15! I know that boys hardly ever notice girls shoes, but these ones -feel- much sexier than my usual clunky ones, and I like that. Thin, graceful shoes make me feel taller. Just as long as I don't try to walk to fast.

I was right about Barnes and Noble not having Yasunari. For some reason, I almost always have to order Japanese books. I can get any other country except Japan. Curiouser and curiouser.

Alright, I'm off to go be a happy samantha in the nap position on my couch. Mmmmm, Kundera.
