Mar. 12th, 2004 05:35 pmVirginia Mason just sent me this photocopied sheet that says:
Dietary irritants to the urinary tract:
Acidic foods to be avoided:
All alcoholic beverages, apples, apple juice, carbonated drinks, chilies-spicy foods, coffee, cranberries, grapes, guava, lemon juice, onions, peaches, pineapple, plums, strawberries, tomatoes, vinegar.
Other possible bladdar irritants (variable):
Spices, especially hot spices, all wheat, rye, corn, oats, barley, and their derivatives, grain alcohol, liquid glucose, all vegetable fats except olive oil, bean family including ground nuts and cocoa bean (this means chocolate).
And I ask you, what am I supposed to eat then? No thanks. I'll risk the occasional UTI and keep the strawberries, tomatoes, chocolate, and all the other yummy things these nazis don't think I should have.
